MHA Candidate Micheli Bevilacqua receives 2017 Robert Wood Johnson Award

Master of Health Administration candidate Micheli (Mike) Bevilacqua has been awarded the 2017 Robert Wood Johnson Award at the National Health Leadership Conference in Vancouver.

The Robert Wood Johnson Award was established in 1956 by Johnson & Johnson, and is presented to one student from each of the six Canadian universities offering graduate programs in health services administration. Robert Wood Johnson earned a world-wide reputation for his innovative management techniques, farsighted socioeconomic reforms and dedicated public service. He helped establish the world’s first school of hospital administration, created a unique industry/hospital collaboration for improving hospital management efficiency and helped set up a prototype nurse recruitment program. The award recognizes outstanding student achievement.

Mike Bevilacqua is physician trained in internal medicine and nephrology. After a Bachelor of Science at SFU, he attended medical school at the University of Calgary and subsequently specialized in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at UBC. Mike completed his nephrology training in 2015 and is now employed as an Administrative Fellow with the BC Provincial Renal Agency. The BC PRA oversees the delivery of care of all patients with kidney disease in the province, and Mike’s role with the renal agency is to serve as a medical adviser and/or medical lead in projects to improve the care of kidney patients across the province. When not at the Renal Agency, Mike practices clinical nephrology in sites around the Lower Mainland and is also actively involved in the teaching of undergraduate students at UBC medical school.

Congratulations to Mr Bevilacqua!
